A relaxed gay wedding at Islington Town Hall and a fun party at Core Clapton, a great Hackney wedding venue.

Here is the initial enquiry Donal and John sent me:
“Are you available on Saturday 10 August to take pictures at our wedding? The ceremony will be held at Islington Town Hall, then we’ve arranged for two Routemasters to take the guests to Core Clapton where the reception will be held.
In terms of style we are aiming for a very relaxed, fun, informal city wedding with all our friends and family.
I don’t think we necessarily want getting ready shots, but our friend Tom will be driving us to Islington Town Hall in his 2CV so it would be nice to have some arrival shots.”
After our first video call, I knew that we were a good match and I was very excited at the idea of shooting another gay wedding in London.
Stoke Newington Couple Shots
I met the couple just outside their flat for a few couple shots before leaving for the Registry Office in their unusual vintage wedding car.
Islington Town Hall wedding ceremony
Donal and John chose to have their civil partnership ceremony in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall. It was in this photogenic London Registry Office that I had shot my first same sex wedding years before.

Confetti
No wedding is complete without confetti It is actually one of my favourite moments of the day to document.
After some quick group shots, two classic London double-decker buses transported the wedding party to Core Clapton. Guests enjoyed drinks and tunes on board.
As for Donal, John, their friend Tom and I, we had another bumpy ride in the French vintage car.
Core Clapton Wedding Reception
Core Clapton is actually an Old Parish Hall. This Edwardian Hall is the perfect blank canvas for an East London wedding. Whatever your style, the space will look fantastic.
Donal and John went for a Mediterranean theme, complete with lemon trees, olive branches and Turkish mezze for lunch.

At 8pm, evening guests joined and the party kicked off and went on till midnight.
