A fun multi-cultural wedding party in the Council Chamber at Battersea Arts Centre, a unique historic wedding venue in South London.
“We love the pictures so much! You really captured the spirit of the day. Thank you Barbara!”
Emma & Nader
Emma and Nader contacted me as soon as they had started planning their wedding three months before the big day!
“We are tying the knot on the 7th of September and have separated our day into two parts. We’re having a very small formal ceremony at Lambeth registry office followed by a family lunch and then. a party with all our friends and family.
The party is starting at 6.30pm in the Council Chamber at Battersea Arts Centre. Hopefully it will be just like us – a wild blend of cultures in an arts centre! We definitely need a photographer to capture the fun of the party.
We loved your photos – we want something to capture our spirit and we think your style is exactly right for us!”
After this initial message, we had a video call. I quickly realised that Emma and Nader were planning a very personal wedding. They were spending their budget on what mattered to them (i.e. a unique quirky venue, photography, music and wedding attire) and would only keep meaningful traditions.
So, the evening celebration would start with drinks for the guests before welcoming the newly-weds with middle eastern singing on the marble staircase. Then, there would be some speeches in the wood-panelled Council Chamber, followed by a first dance. The D.J.’s brief was to play a mix of western and middle eastern pop music.
Emma and Nader definitely ticked all the boxes! I was very excited to shoot a fun party for my first Battersea Arts Centre wedding!
