A same-sex wedding ceremony in the North Atrium at Hackney Town Hall and a relaxed summer reception at Hatch Homerton, a cool East London wedding venue.

“We’re so pleased with the photos! You did such a brilliant job! You really are an incredible energy to be around, and you took some stunning photos. Thank you SO much!”
Clare & Sophie

Clare and Sophie first contacted me when they were planning to have a big wedding party in June 2020. We had a video call at the time and thought we were a good match. However, like so many other couples, they had to change their plans due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
It was a nice surprise to hear back from them earlier this year.
“It’s been a long time since we were in touch but I’m happy to report that Sophie and I are finally planning our wedding again. We wanted to get back in touch with you to see if you might be free to be our photographer? Are you available on Friday 1st July?

Wedding plans
“As you may already know, Stour Space have closed the space in Hackney Wick as it’s being re-developed for flats (sob!). So, we’ve had to start all over again. We are now planning to get married at Hackney Town Hall (in the North Atrium) and then have a lunch at Hatch in Homerton. It will be a small wedding, with just family attending (total around 40 people).”
We now have a 15 month old son. So, we thought it might be nice to have an opportunity for some photos of him and us at home before the big event. Our ceremony is starting at 12.30pm – there will be two readings. Then, everyone will walk round to the reception venue. We though you could take some couple shots on the way to Hatch.
Lunch is starting around 2pm. It will be a 3-course vegetarian meal, with a sharing meze style starter followed by a main course and pudding. There will be four short speeches (our parents and us). They will probably be spread in between the starter and main course, and then between the main course and pudding.”
Although their plans had changed completely, I was excited to shoot another London lesbian wedding. Plus, it would be my first wedding in the Atrium at Hackney Town Hall. And I couldn’t wait to discover a new cool wedding reception venue in East London: Hatch Homerton.
