A Committee Room ceremony at Hackney Town Hall and a fun, informal wedding party at MKII, a cool warehouse venue in Clapton.

The Enquiry

“My partner, Conor, and I are getting married on Saturday 13th May – 6 weeks away! – and looking for a wedding photographer. The wedding will take place at Hackney Town Hall and MKII in Clapton. We really like the images in your portfolio and the fact that you are local, and wondered if you’d be free?”

The Wedding Plans

“Plan for the day will be 2.30pm ceremony, 4pm drinks and speeches, 6pm dinner, 8-11pm disco. We’re having about 100-110 guests.”

Hackney Town Hall Wedding Ceremony

“The ceremony will take place in the Committee Room at Hackney Town Hall. Conor and I will be walking in together with my nan. The ceremony itself should be fairly short as there won’t be any readings but we’ve written our own vows. After the ceremony, we’d love to have some confetti shots outside the Town Hall. Then, we’re planning on walking with some friends to our reception venue.”

MKII Wedding Reception

“For our reception, we’ve picked MKII, a warehouse wedding venue just a couple of streets away from where we live. It used to be a dairy then a factory and now it’s the perfect blank canvas for our laidback plans. We particularly like the white walls, concrete floors and skylights. Decoration will be mainly colourful flowers, candles, bunting and festoon lighting.
In terms of food, we’re going to have bagels with drinks and some Mediterranean mezze for dinner.
One of our friends is a DJ so he’ll be in charge of the music.”

Relaxed Wedding Photography

“I don’t think we need any ‘getting ready’ photos. We’d rather concentrate on the main events so a half day photography package would be great. You could start the day by photographing guests arriving at the town hall for the ceremony.
We’re planning a very relaxed event, we’re looking for informal shots of friends and family having a good time.
Of course, it would be nice to get a few group photos on Hackney Town Hall steps. But other than that, we’d rather have in-the-moment pictures. We’d love to have some couple shots but we’re not big fans of posing so your approach sounds ideal to us.”
