Best Pub Wedding Venues in ISLINGTON, North London
THE OLD QUEEN’S HEAD, 44 Essex Road Angel, Islington, London, N1 8LN
The Old Queens Head is a true gem! It is located just a few minutes’ walk from Islington Town Hall and the Union Chapel. I discovered this spectacular London venue while going through tens of pub wedding reception venues. It is definitely a unique wedding venue for alternative couples who want to throw a great party in an impressive setting.
It feels intimate and yet it can accommodate quite a big wedding party. Plus, the fantastic settings hardly require any decoration and will look fabulous on photos.
“Looking for a romantic and opulent setting to hold your wedding reception? Look no further, our Victorian Living Room seats up to 65 people for a wedding breakfast and for the reception we can have up to 140 people standing. The room also comes with free use of our karaoke room! Full DJ set up and live PA are available for exclusive hire. We can cater to weddings Monday-Thursday.“
THE DRAPERS ARMS, 44 Barnsbury St, Islington, London, N1 1ER
The Drapers Arms is a charming 1830s pub with a garden in a quiet residential area a few minutes’ walk from Islington Town Hall.
The private dining room on the first floor is available for hire for parties of up to 50 people. I particularly like its green/blue walls and checkerboard floor. The vintage furniture and quirky decoration bring a unique charm to the place. Large windows provide good natural light for photos.
Best Pub Wedding Venues in CAMDEN TOWN, North London
THE COLONEL FAWCETT, 1 Randolph Street, Camden, London NW1 0SS
“The Colonel Fawcett is Camden’s best kept secret!”
It has two beautiful Victorian function spaces with lovely period features. The main bar on the ground floor seats up to 90 guests. I love the beautiful cast-iron staircase in the corner. There is access to two small gardens: one at the front and one at the back. The space comes with DJ booth and PA.
For smaller intimate weddings, you can hire the function room on the first floor separately. It has its own bar and also comes with a DJ booth and PA. Mel and Fred used it for their humanist wedding ceremony. Afterwards they had some drinks and an oyster bar in the gardens.
“Their dedicated team will be there to help you create your bespoke food and drink options, and to help you plan your event to the smallest details.”
THE PRINCE ALBERT, 163 Royal College Street, Camden, London NW1 0SG
The Prince Albert pub in Camden Town is probably one of London’s busiest pub wedding venues.
Dating back from 1843, it is nicely decorated in an eclectic style. If you are looking for a stylish laid back wedding venue, the Prince Albert is for you.
It is quite convenient if you are having your ceremony in central London or in the City. You can also have both your ceremony and reception at the Prince Albert as it is one of the few pubs licensed to hold marriages and civil partnerships on the premises.
“The team at the Prince Albert have gained a wealth of experience in helping the happy couple to organise their perfect celebration, whether it be a smaller, more intimate affair, or a grand hire of the whole building.”
The small outside area is great on a hot summer day and you can even have a barbecue there!
I like photographing relaxed pub weddings at the Prince Albert, Camden. The venue is photogenic and the large windows on the first floor provide the best natural.
Ground floor: 50 seated / 110 standing
First floor: 80 seated / 105 standing
Outside: 25 seated / 50 standing

NEVER FOR EVER, 79 Highgate Rd, Kentish Town, London NW5 1TL
Okay, so, Never For Ever is not actually a pub but it’s such a cool place to have an informal wedding party, I didn’t want you to miss out.
They offer craft beers, wine and cocktails but also fingerfood, pizzas from two wood-fired ovens and embrace sustainability and seasonality.
The venue is split over two floors: a bright and airy ground floor with its pool room for hire and the separate basement bar with its built-in stage for live music.
Across both floors you can plug in and play your own music or even book a DJ.
Capacity: up to 100 seated (ground floor)/ 60 seated (basement)
“We had our wedding reception Never For Ever at the end of October 2021, it was an amazing day and all our guests had a great time. The space is perfect, it has a relaxed atmosphere upstairs for the meal and the basement bar is great for a party late into the night.Niamh
The whole team are so friendly and helpful, they had everything under control, allowing us to enjoy the evening without worry.
The events manager Zac went above and beyond taking the time to go through all the finer details with us prior to the day, making sure that every last thing was thought of. This was so helpful and made the whole process as stress free as possible!
We really did have the best day and one we will never forget.”
THE GIPSY QUEEN, 166 Malden Road, Kentish Town, London NW5 4BS
Customers seem to agree on the lovely, relaxed atmosphere and the delicious food that you can see being prepared in the open kitchen.
Besides, the Mexican Street Food specialist Luardos has set up residency at the pub on Friday and Saturday so if you are planning a Mexican themed wedding party, the Gipsy Queen might just be the right place for it.

Darmouth Arms is a cosy stylish pub with great vibes and food. It was saved from closure and reimagined by Disappearing Dining Club.

Stuart, Joe and the team were amazing in enabling us to plan the day exactly as we wanted, and the staff on the day ensured everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, tailored to what we wanted with the quality being to such a high standard that many guests (as well as ourselves) are already planning to go back to the Dartmouth Arms to sample more of their food. Planning our special day with the team was not only straightforward but really enjoyable too, everything was absolutely fantastic.”Katy Donovan

THE OWL AND HITCHHIKER, 471 Holloway Rd, Archway, London N7 6LE
If you are looking for a quirky pub wedding venue in North London, look no further.
The Owl and Hitchhiker’s name is inspired by two of the area’s most famous residents. Its incredible décor too reflects Douglas Adams’s sci-fi The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and fantastical poet Edward Lear’s Owl & The Pussycat.
This funky pub serves homemade food and craft beers and also offers some old school arcade games.
Capacity: 100 standing | 50 seated (split between the bar and parlor)
Best Pub Wedding Venues in HOLLOWAY, North London
THE DEPOT, 1 Carpenter’s Mews, North Road, London, N7 9EF
The Depot is my personal favourite and according to many newlyweds’ reviews: ‘the perfect London wedding venue’. It is a spacious pub in a Victorian industrial warehouse that used to be an omnibus depot. It makes the ideal contemporary and stylish wedding venue for laid back urban weddings. Besides it requires minimum decoration as it radiates its own charm and can suit any wedding style.
“For the picture perfect wedding The Depot can really do it all. From a rustic & bohemian day of craft beers, bespoke food menus and live entertainment to a day full of adventure and immersive experiences for you and your guests in the Escape Rooms, The Depot really can mould around your needs. We will work with you to create your perfect wedding menu, entertainment, decorating the venue and timings of your big day. From anything up to 280 guests, our team will be with you every step of the way to give you that stress free wedding you deserve.”
It is a real treat shooting a wedding in such a photogenic venue. The outdoor space and the mezzanine levels create different interesting spaces. And the mews provide great backdrops for couple portraits.
In the words of a happy couple:
The space itself is perfect – a cool, industrial look that can be dressed up to your style, with plenty of outside space and a brilliant use of levels inside of one big room that allows you to create different areas and ambiance for your day. There is a huge amount of space for dancing or chilling out whilst still feeling intimate. As an added plus, the industrial and romantic cool of the venue means our wedding photos are absolutely beautiful and unique. We had originally wanted a pub wedding and ended up with so much more than that!

Best Pub Wedding Venues in MUSWELL HILL, North London
THE VICTORIA’S STAKES, 1 Muswell Hill, London, N10 3TH
The Victoria Stakes is a beautiful independent gastropub nestling in the foothills of Alexandra Palace. It is one of the rare North London pubs to be licensed for marriage and civil partnerships.
The light and airy dining room is perfect for wedding receptions with up to 90 guests. It comes with its own bar and a space for a band or DJ.
Our chef is happy to create a menu to suit your requirements, whether a formal sit-down meal, buffet or canapes.
If you are like me and you love industrial style buildings, then the Victorian Courtyard with its exposed brickwork and cast iron girders is for you. It is fully covered so it can be used all year round.
Here is a review from a thrilled wedding guest.
“My husband and I attended a wedding reception yesterday at the Victoria Stakes and we were blown away with how wonderful it was.
Aesthetically the area we were in for the formal part of the reception was fabulous – a beautiful covered courtyard with carefully considered decor made it a perfect backdrop for the bride and groom. The food was delicious too: the starter of arancini with rocket and Parmesan was superb followed by sea bream in a lovely and light buttery sauce on top of crushed new potatoes was sublime and not at all over cooked. And final round of vegan sticky toffee pudding was splendid. One of the best wedding breakfasts I’ve ever had!
We were then moved upstairs to a function room which was a lovely size to accommodate the party and let everyone dance their socks off.”
