A ceremony at Islington Town Hall and a typical East London wedding party at Clapton Country Club. Complete with Thai street food and homebrew!

“A massive Thank You for photographing our wedding and being so patient with us! We had such an amazing day and are so happy with the photos!”
Helen & Josh

As soon as I received the enquiry for this Clapton Country Club wedding, I knew we would be a good match.
“Helen and I are having an East London wedding with the ceremony at Islington Town Hall Council Chamber (12 pm). We will then all board a vintage London bus to our venue in Clapton that is a converted factory/warehouse. We are having Thai Street food canapés and sharing platters for mains. I’m also brewing a load of beer for the day. It’s going to be super relaxed with no speeches or first dance just a great party with friends and family. We are looking for a photographer that can capture our day in a very relaxed way. We aren’t really into posed or forced photos but love pictures that capture the moment. Your style definitely fits what we are about.”
Hoxton Square Wedding Prep
I started the coverage around 10.45 am in a cool flat in Hoxton Square. Helen wanted some “non-cheesy getting ready shots” which is exactly what I specialise in!
There was music, Champagne, laughs and already a lot of sunshine. Helen and her two bridesmaids were having their make-up and hair done by Branka V. And her parents arrived just before she put her Chloe dress and golden Miu Miu shoes on.

Islington Town Hall wedding ceremony
The ceremony took place in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall, a beautiful Registry Office in North London where I have shot many weddings.

Couple shots at Islington Town Hall
After the congratulations, I took the newlyweds away from their guests for a few minutes for some photos inside the photogenic town hall.

Confetti
When we came out, the guests were waiting for the couple with some confetti. Then, the wedding party boarded a vintage routemaster for a short journey to Clapton Country Club.

The warehouse venue was ready for the party. It had been beautifully decorated with flowers by Paula at Fox and Thorn who also made the bouquets for the bride, bridesmaids and flower girls.

Photo booth
Helen and Josh had prepared some Polaroid cameras for their guests to use. This is a great alternative for anyone who does not want to hire a photo booth.

Food and drinks
Everyone enjoyed some great Thai street food by KraPow London and Josh’s own homebrew!

Clapton Country Club wedding – Couple shots
Again, we took a few minutes for some informal portraits in the alleyways around Clapton Country Club.

What is great about Clapton Country Club is the outside space that allows guests to enjoy nice weather and fresh air away from the main road.

Clapton Country Club Wedding Reception

Speeches
After dinner, Josh said a few words to thank some special people who helped make the day a success.

Wedding cake
When most of the evening guests had arrived, the couple decided to cut the gorgeous wedding cake by Le Choux.

Party Time
Then, it was time for the party with Jason King from Disco Wed, the DJ recommended by Clapton Country Club.
