When blogging their best alternative wedding photography of the year, most wedding photographers select about a hundred of their best photos. I’m more of a minimalist and I believe that most people don’t enjoy going through hundreds of wedding pictures unless these are photos of their own wedding.
It’s not an easy task to go through thousands of photos and pick only a few but I like the challenge. I just follow my gut feeling and I always discover something interesting about my work once I start looking at the selection I have made.
Enjoy my best alternative wedding photography!

- What a great surprise to see the bride arriving at Old Marylebone Town Hall wearing the sexiest sequin dress by Temperley London!

- Blue doors and a stylish couple! I couldn’t be happier!

- An unexpected still life! I’m probably a photographer because I can’t paint…

Best alternative wedding photography 2018

- It is such a treat to shoot weddings in photogenic venues. You cannot go wrong with the Fitzrovia Chapel!

- Couples who plan very personal weddings are the best! The table in the picture below is the exact table where Georgie and Adam sat when they had their first date at the Woody’s in Kingston. They decided to stop there for a drink on their wedding day.

- Photographing multi cultural weddings is part of the fun of shooting alternative weddings. It is always exciting not to know exactly what to expect.

- Evocative photography is definitely my favourite type of photography. So be warned, I shoot hands and feet a lot!

- Live bands add so much to the fun of the day!

- I love photographing people in love whether their hair is green or pink!

- I shoot silhouettes whenever I can…

- Searching for interesting compositions can become an obsession!

- Laid back couples are so much fun to work with! They plan their wedding day exactly the way they want and that makes my job very exciting!

- Documenting people having fun is the best part of being a wedding photographer. The party is definitely one of my favourite parts of the day.

- I enjoy photographing the beginning of a wedding day. It is very rare that I get to shoot the groom getting ready, though.

- The imperfection of Polaroid photos is beautiful – you never know what you are going to get…

- Don’t you love details? I do!

- Confetti shots might be cliche but I love them!

- Unexpected things make the best pictures!

- I do not use a flash. Although it can be quite challenging in certain situations, it can be so rewarding!

- Alternative weddings are very diverse. It’s exciting to photograph unique weddings like this Harry Potter themed wedding.

- Couple shots are an important part of the wedding day. I like to focus on the couple’s relationship and interactions.
Best of 2017
Here is my selection for my best alternative wedding photography of 2017. As always I went through thousands of photos and instinctively picked some pictures and tried to figure out what they meant to my style.
These 17 alternative wedding photos will give you a good idea of the way I see things when documenting a wedding day.

- The first photo I have picked is not actually typical of my style however it illustrates perfectly my approach. I do not normally shoot portraits of a bride or groom on their own as I prefer to show the relationship of a couple. However I love to go with the flow and make the most of any opportunity. In this case, I had not seen the location prior to the shoot – except online – but on the day it was obvious to me that this particular spot was perfect for a portrait of the bride.

- It was great fun to go on the overground to Hackney Wick with the whole wedding party.

- Evocative photography is definitely my favourite type of photography.

- What a memorable wedding this was! Documenting people having fun is the best part of being a wedding photographer.

- A ‘gift’ on the way to the reception venue…

- I absolutely love playing with my toy lens!

- Give me confetti, rice, bubbles or sparklers anytime!

- Even in a grandiose setting, I prefer my photos to feel intimate.

- Some candid photographs are just gifts from heaven.

- Photogenic wedding venues are very inspiring and you cannot go wrong with Brunswick House! It is definitely one of the best London wedding venues.

- Be warned, I shoot silhouette portraits whenever I can.

- I always welcome couples who have children. They bring excitement to the day.

- Shooting speeches can be laborious unless you have interesting light.

- I can’t resist shooting portraits in unusual settings – I just love the contrast. I can see beauty in any industrial environment. This wedding in Hackney Wick was such a treat!

fun Round Chapel Wedding
- Alternative weddings are so diverse. It is so exciting to shoot stuff you have never shot before.

- Don’t you love Polaroid photos? I do! Each photo is unique and imperfect yet beautiful!

- I really enjoy taking dancing shots. People express their personality in such a unique and funny way and working with colourful spotlights is a treat!
2016 in 16 wedding photos
It is that time of the year again… It is time for me to blog my best alternative wedding photography of 2016 and reflect on the past wedding season. While 2015 was all about discovering my style, 2016 was more about implementing it.
So here are the sixteen alternative wedding photos that will give you an idea of the way I see things. Enjoy!

- The unexpected guest. I love surprises and this was definitely a great one for everyone, including me.

- I really enjoy using my toy lens. Not everyone likes the Lomography look it creates but I think it works well on details and some portraits.

- Whenever the circumstances are appropriate I shoot some portraits with my Polaroid camera.

- Do you want to know the secret for planning a fun wedding? Just invite fun loving people! Life is too short. That is why I specialise in non-traditional weddings.

- I love details that help to tell a story…

- Planning an outdoor ceremony in the UK is always risky but it is really worth it. Having a humanist wedding outdoor is so special. The Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond-upon-Thames is the perfect wedding venue for an outdoor ceremony close to London.

- I love working with laid back couples. Just like me, they are ready to embrace whatever happens on their wedding day.

- Be warned, I cannot resist shooting reflections.

- I have become a master at keeping my balance when shooting on wedding routemasters. And if you too, are planning to hire a vintage wedding bus, check out my blog post for some planning tips.

- Who would have thought that shooting the cutting of the wedding cake could be fun!

- I had plenty of opportunities to shoot in very dark places!

- I have started enjoying what happens between two happy portraits.

- Shooting portraits in nature is not my specialty – I am more of an urban wedding photographer – however I welcome the challenge.

- I enjoy working with whatever light I can find.

- I love stumbling upon some quirky background.

- I shot three gay and lesbian weddings in London last year and I look forward to photographing some more this year.
